Psychological well-being sustains your life force, and this is the right space to address your mental health needs. Navigating how to be well isn’t easy. It’s intentional care that you and I partner, in confidence, to achieve…without stigma and with understanding.
My name is Dr. Barbara F. Shabazz. You can call me Dr.B. I have over 25 years of experience facilitating change in the lives of clients and students. My role is to journey alongside you - supporting, validating, and facilitating agency - as you ‘work out the waves’. I can’t want it for you, more than you do. But, if you’re ready to make the commitment, to professional care, I’ll stand with you. Let’s do the work!

My approach is grounded in culturally-affirming practices, through a deeply integrative strengths-based methodology. While it is true that diagnostic labels play an important role in helping to identify how your daily functioning is being impaired, it’s important for me to remind you that you are human — not a label. Through a liberatrory lens, we focus on disputing limiting beliefs, confronting faulty cognitions, divesting from oppressive social constructs, and navigating environmental stressors in order to equip you with tools to cope manage, and mitigate your presenting symptoms. Curiosity, compassion, and collaboration are the cornerstones.
